Web 2.0 Defined and Explored
Posted on February 11th, 2007 by mkrill
Steve Dembo presented his definition of Web 2.0 tools and went on to demonstrate the what, whys and hows about them.
- Bloglines - Aggregate your blogs in one place
- del.cio.us - Online bookmarking, have your bookmarks available wherever you login. See who else has bookmarks (interests) similar to yours.
- flickr - Online photo storage and sharing with a Creative Commons area.
- picnik - Online photo editing with a Creative Commons area.
- jumpcut - Online video editing tool.
- gcast.com
- pbwiki & wikispaces - Free online wiki tools.
- Google docs & Spreadsheets - Free online tools that rival Microsoft Word and Excel. Allows collaborative work!
- Vyew.com - Free online webinar solution.
The bottom line seems to be - why is everyone paying so much money for software when it looks like there’s a free version on the web for everything you want to do. Have you used any of these? on your own or in the classroom. Comment back, I’d love to hear what works and what doesn’t.

Steve gave us more information than we could handle. We need time to explore these resources and find ways to use them and share them with other teachers in our district.
