It’s back!
The K12 Online Conference 2007 is underway. There are no excuses for not attending, if even for only one session. The presentations become available as the two weeks progress and can be downloaded for viewing anytime, anywhere. Last year, I viewed a number of presentations and shared a couple with some like minded staff members.
This year, I'm making more of an effort to participate in the conversations during the conference. The chat conversation included for the first 24-48 hours was neat. Now, I was able to see and hear the keynote and discuss it with others too! These were people that I may have met one time or never have met. That's amazing to me. Amazing to me - but not to today's students. This is the way they communicate online frequently - through gaming, IM-ing, blogging, etc...
In many cases, I feel ahead of the curve with regard to educational technology, but I know I'm fooling myself. I'm looking at the back of many heads. Just knowing this is enough to make me continue the struggle to keep up and help bring others along!
What presentations are you looking forward to viewing? How would your students react to Warlick's keynote? What level of participation would you feel comfortable with in a conference like this?
