Election 2008
The United States election process is confusing! It’s confusing to understand and confusing to explain. I’m sharing three things that could make the job easier.
First up ~ the Common Craft video ~ Electing a US President in Plain English. This 3 1/2 minute video goes a long way in making sense of the electoral college and how a candidate gets elected, including the electoral college. It’s so short, you can watch it twice.
Second is the CNN Electoral Map Calculator . This interactive map allows the user to start with CNN estimates and enter their own prediction for the winning candidate state by state. The state colors red, yellow, or blue so the user has a visual of who the winner might be. There are five options that a user can choose from to start with, even a blank slate option.
Combined with the above video, this tool could really help students put the election in to perspective and develop a better understanding of how a candidate actually wins the election.
Third, I’ve embedded a grazr widget to show the sites I’ve bookmarked with the tag election 2008.
