Learning Opportunity

This weekend, I’m heading to Philadelphia to participate in a weekend learning opportunity, Educon 2.1.
From the wiki:
EduCon 2.1 is both a conversation and a conference.
And it is not a technology conference. It is an education conference. It is, hopefully, an innovation conference where we can come together, both in person and virtually, to discuss the future of schools. Every session will be an opportunity to discuss and debate ideas — from the very practical to the big dreams.
The Axioms
Guiding Principles of EduCon 2.1
1) Our schools must be inquiry-driven, thoughtful and empowering for all members
2) Our schools must be about co-creating — together with our students — the 21st Century Citizen
3) Technology must serve pedagogy, not the other way around.
4) Technology must enable students to research, create, communicate and collaborate
5) Learning can — and must — be networked.
I attended last year and was moved to action! No doubt this year’s experience will be just as moving. If you can’t make it, but want to participate sign up on the Virtual Attendees page and then check back to participate in the live streamed conversations. The full list of sessions is posted on the Conversations page. Just reading the descriptions is exciting!

I don’t think that public schools will do this. I think we will have to send our children to private schools to be able to do this.
Great blog, I am a big fan!

@Ryan Thanks for the comment and kind words! SLA is a public school, although it is not the ’standard’ public school. Read more here http://www.scienceleadership.org/drupaled/ .
